ABOUT THE GALLERY ABOUT CHILLI ADDRESS GALLERY HOURS Stay up to date LOCATION contact
The gallery is located in Chalk Farm, Camden. The closest stations are Chalk Farm (Northern Line), Kentish Town West (Overground) and Camden Road (Overground).
Founded by Aubrey Higgin, Chilli began as an artist-run program in 2022. The gallery has since grown into a respected voice in the London emerging art scene. The gallery prides itself on giving overlooked artists a voice with a particular focus on cultivating international artistic dialogues.
Its programming focuses on diverse, emerging, international artists - united by a desire to tell untold stories of experience, identity & environment through unique painterly, material or conceptual processes. With a focus on painting, Chilli promotes cross-cultural exchange - bringing many international artists to London audiences for the first time. By showcasing artists across multiple continents, the gallery establishes a discursive critical voice - addressing diverse perspectives of art within the broader context of contemporary artistic practices.
Chilli take great pride in having a close relationship with the artists that they encounter and work with. The gallery looks to give artists a solid foundation to build their career through the careful placement of their works, as well as through mentorship and guidance from other practising artists across different sectors and media. The gallery believes in encouraging and nurturing artists from all backgrounds and walks of life and giving them the tools to find their voice within the contemporary art scene.
The gallery is also dedicated in our mission to widen public access to international art, running a regular programme of talks and events, often in collaboration with external organisations. The gallery and its artists have collaborated on a number of public events and artworks with Tate Britain, the Royal African Society, W1 Curates and Lambeth Council.
Public outreach, education and dialogue are key to the gallery’s commitment to improving accessibility to the arts. As such, the gallery also produces publications featuring many of our artists under our publishing wing, Chilli Press.
